There was a total of 70 episodes with two seasons. Season 1 had 38 Episodes and season 2 had 32. There where 4 DVDs. One being a complete series, another being the same name but being the Closed Casket Collection, another having season one, and lastly season 2.
There's not any real answer. When Jim got the job on Sam & Friends, Kermit was just a lizard that he used, and he used it a lot. Eventually, the lizard morphed into a frog, and the frog became the Kermit we know today.

Gonzo is according to muppets from space, is an alien. But most of the time they refer to him as a 'whatever' but really, Jim Henson answered that question with muppets from space saying Gonzo was a lost alien.
