"Truce in the Forest" is a story that takes place during World War II. Independent of each other, some Allied soldiers and German soldiers showed up and knocked on the door of a cabin. The Allied soldiers showed up first and one was wounded. The woman invited them in, even though they were the enemy, and offered to feed them. Later, when the German soldiers knocked, she let them in too, but told them there would be no trouble. She took their weapons, then took the weapons of the Allied soldiers and fed them all. The conflict in the story is the fact that the soldiers were on differing sides. Under different circumstances, they likely would have tried to kill each other.

the problem that occurred in the story was when the Germans arrived in the house of Fritz and her mother permitted them to take a rest in their house while the Americans who is their enemy is also inside their house. The problem that occurred was when her mother is having a hard time convincing the Germans that their should be no fight that will occur because they have they same situations.The Americans are also lost and just hungry and exhausted like them. Even though Her Mother set a conditions for the two enemies just to stay and take a rest in their house still their is a doubt because they will be endangered if the the Americans and the Germans will fight inside their house.

A miracle was when three American soldiers sought refuge in a a lady's cabin in the woods on Christmas eve. Three German soldiers were there, and the lady insisted there would be no fighting in her house. One of the three American soldiers had been wounded in a battle, and was dying in bed. One of the German soldiers had been to medical school and knew the American soldier would die if he didn't get medical medical help. The only thing that could be done was for the German to remove the bullet from the American and save his life.
Another miracle could be when all the soldiers left the cabin to return to their troops, and the final words on the screen was that the Germans "returned to their country another way" implying they returned to their troops without telling about the three Americans who were en route to the American troops.

Basically, it is a story of people being merciful and kind and voluntarily disarming and choosing brotherhood and peace rather than war for Christmas.
The setting is a cottage near the German/Belgian border. Three lost American soldiers, one seriously wounded, knock on the door of a cottage. Despite the fact that they are "the enemy," the woman lets them in, tends the wounded man, and starts preparing dinner for them.
As they were preparing dinner, there is another knock, but this time it is German soldiers. They ask if they can stay. The woman knows that there is a law against harboring the enemy, and that not only could her American guests be shot, but so could her and her son. Despite this, she welcomes the German soldiers in, but tells them that they need to leave their weapons, and says "this Christmas night, let us forget about killing."
The Germans and the Americans are uncomfortable at first, but they eat together and then start helping each other a little. A German examines the American's wound, and they help them know how to get back to the American lines.
They shook hands and each went their separate ways back to their sides of the war, but for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day there was peace between them, and the story suggests that we should be willing to have that sort of brotherhood all the time, because that is what the idea of Christmas and Christ is about.
