OH, PLEASE, what does season three on vampires mean? Does that mean vampires every afternoon and every night, or perhaps just afternoon vampires? Have they evolved since last month, when they were leaping over tall trees and doing telekinesis when they can't only not spell it, but probably can't spell the "tall trees," either.

According to all the new blogs and the TV Series Guide Book, Damon and Elena do have some romantic moments later in Series 2, but apparently that's not enough for Elena to break up with Stefan.

In the current most recent season (season five) and a little before season four ends, the two end-up being together even after Elena's sire is cut-off from Damon. The two are in love as of right now, however, Elena does still think about Stefan but it's not clear at the moment if she's going to break up with Damon to go back out with Stefan, we'll have to wait to see later in season five (if anything happens about the relationship in this new season).

i don't think it actually goes by book. the television series is based on the main plot of the books, and I'm sure later on, we'll see some events that also occur in the books. for the now, i don't think season two will be based on a particular book in the series, if any, part three: the fury, because of Katherine's arrival in Mystic Falls/ Fells Church.

Katerina is not the original Petrova, she is also a doppleganger. Klaus' mother was a witch and she was the one who created the first vampire, Mikael. Mikael then turned his children, including Klaus, into vampires. In order to turn them he spiked their wine with the blood of a girl named Tatia. Tatia was the original Petrova, the one that Katerina and Elena are dopplegangers of. Klaus' mother had an affair with a werewolf, resulting in Klaus being a hybrid. When Klaus made his first kill as a vampire, it triggered his werewolf gene. His mother sealed the werewolf part of him by using a spell. Inorder for Klaus to become a full hybrid and unlock his power, he had to kill the doppleganger. The reason his mother placed the curse that way was because in order for Klaus to create more hybrids, he needed the dopplegangers blood. If the doppleganger had been sacrificed to break the curse, then he wouldn't be able to sire any hybrids. Klaus didn't know about that though, he just knew that he had to kill the doppleganger I'm order to break the curse. He was going to use Katerina to break it the first time, but she escaped and had herself turned into a vampire so that he could no longer use her blood. In retaliation Klaus killed all of her family, except for her daughter, who was given up for adoption because she was born out of wedlock, resulting in Katerina and Elena being related.
