You've got to be kidding me!! Theocracy is when the government exists only to serve a particular religious view and agenda. They are usualluy very brutal regimes and personal freedoms are non-existant (especially for women). If all religions are claiming stake to the only "REAL GOD" and that all the others are simply made up by the priests, then maybe they're all wrong and there is no God. Why should every aspect of my life be directed by the religious obsessions of someone else? The fact that you had to ask this question is embematic to me of the lack of even the most remedial knowledge of world affairs which is rampant in the U.S. today. But at least you asked the question. A theocracy is, by definition, a form of government that is ruled by God, or any Gods that the theocrats believe in. In a theocracy, high priests and Pope-like figures make decisions based on the word of God/the Gods. They make decisions based off of what God/the Gods want(s), and based off of any religious writings that exist, i.e The Bible, the Qu'ran, or the Torah.

The impact would depend on which religion the theocracy is based on. If it is based on a religion where everybody is treated fairly it could work a little like a democracy where the citizens would have some influence in what happens. Also the ruler of the theocracy would have an effect as well. The citizens could be trained to be good hardworking people or the ruler could work the same way as a dictator.

They care more about an individual ruler then the overall stability both economically and socially of the country.
