What do the movie Titanic and the real Titanic have in common?

The main thing they have in common is appearance. The makers of Titanic took a great deal of care to make the movie version of the ship and the costumes of the actors as authentic looking as possible.

They have a lot more than just the looks in common, James Cameron is a stickler for getting things right and although some film-makers licence had to be employed in making the film as it weaved in a fictional story (Jack and Rose) with the factual drama of that fateful night in April 1912. The individual sub-stories referenced in the film are as accurate as records allow so conversations between Capt E J Smith, desigher Thomas Andrews and White Star Line Chairman Bruce Ismay are true, other stories and characters alluded to like the Strauss's, John Jacob Astor and his wife Madeleine, Colonel Archibald Gracie and so on all have clear basis in fact.

Everything pertaining to Jack and Rose, and thus by association the De Witt Bukater family (Rose's family) and Cal (Rose's fiance) is pure fiction and has no basis in reality. The closest link you can get is that there was a genuine J Dawson (Joseph, not Jack!) who was a member of the crew and worked in the fearsome heat of the boiler room supplying the stokers with coal!

Who is fault is it for the sinking of the titanic?

It was Bruce Ismay and Captian Edward Smith
Like most disasters, there is no one person to blame. White Star Line's management encouraged the attitude that, with its watertight compartments, the ship could not sink. The ship was traveling too fast for conditions, so to speak, in hopes of setting a new speed record for the trip. And there's some evidence that the officer in charge directed the helmsman to steer the wrong direction - into the iceberg - after the collision occurred.
i think it was Thomas Andrew's fault because he did not make sure that the water tight compartments were not the apporite height
In my opinion, it was J. Bruce Ismay. I read somewhere that he urged Captain Smith to break record speeds, even though he knew it was an icefield. I'm not sure about anyone else, but back then the world blamed it on him.
no one

Actually lots of people all together made the titanic sink including the ship builders, captin smith and Bruce Ismay.

Titanic was the biggest ship ever built in the world. People began to bored the cruise ship in England. They set off to New York. There were three classes: 1st class, 2nd class, and 3rd class. 3rd class was the poorest class, where 1st was the richest. The ship was known as 'unsinkable', but sadly the great cruise luxary stuck any ice berg in April 1912. There were not enough lifeboats for everyone. More people ended up dead, than alive. There was about 2,000 people that boarded the Titanic, but only about 700 survived. The survivors got saved by the Carpatha, a smaller ship. Then the Carpatha next went to New York, to drop off its passengers.

Since the Titanic sank, people have been looking for it for years. Sometime in the 1980's, the Titanic was found.

This is just a breif summary of the Titanic. To learn more, watch the movie Titanic, or get a book at a library or book store. Hope I helped!

Who spotted the iceberg on the Titanic?

It could be said 2 people spotted it, as we will never know which saw it first. Frederick Fleet was the first of the two lookouts to spot the berg first, and he telephoned the bridge. By the time the sixth officer, who received the call, reported the sighting to the officer of the watch, first officer Murdoch, Murdoch had already seen the berg as well of his own accord as he was rushing into the wheelhouse with his orders of hard-a-starboard and full speed astern. As such, both the Murdoch and Fleet saw the iceberg at virtually the same time, though it is likely that Fleet saw it only seconds earlier than Murdoch.

How are modern day cruise ships built differently than how the titanic was built?

DEFINITELY! Although there were only minor design flaws in the Titanic's construction, the main reason why it was such a catastrophe is because the safety guidelines were not met to an adequate level. Nowadays there are many more measures taken to ensure a safe and enjoyable cruising trip. So, if you're planning on taking a cruise soon, you have nothing to fear.

How many Titanic survivors are still living today?

Answer: Sadly there are no remaining survivors living today.

The last survivor of the Titanic disaster passed away on 31 May 2009. Her name was Elizabeth Gladys 'Millvina' Dean and she was only a matter of months old when the liner hit an iceburg at 11:40pm, April 14th 1912 so she had no personal memories of her own. However the stories retold since the disaster were passed to her by her mother Eva Georgette Dean, who survived the disaster along with Millvina's older brother Bertram Vere Dean and Millvina herself. Eva's first husband, Bertram Frank Dean died in the disaster. Eva later remarried and the story was passed onto Millvina in surprising detail. Millvina describes her father through her mother's eyes as 'such a handsome man, the love of her [mother's] life', clearly emphasising the huge sense of loss this disaster had on her.

How many animals died on the titanic?

I found this on another site. Im unsure if this is 100% accurate but i belive it is very close.

Im too lazy to rewrite it so im just gona copy it to this site (Cheesy i know)

Im allsoe gona copy a story (True or False) I don't know.

What I Found Out about the Animals Who Sailed Titanic.

Artemis, the Greek goddess sometimes called protector/patron of wild animals and birds or Lady of the Beasts, was on board --in the form of a statue displayed on a mantle in the first class lounge.

Accounts I ran across varied as to the exact number of the following, but they were all close (within a number or two either way of each other): there were either nine or ten dogs aboard, as well as four hens and roosters, 30 cockerels, a yellow canary, a pet pig, and Jenny, the ship's cat. (Plus a whole slew of rats. Another scene I often wondered about from the movie.)

If the ship hadn't sunk, an informal dog show was planned on board for later that day. (Monday April 12th.)

Dogs whose names and breeds I could find include: Gamon de Pycombe, a French Bulldog; Kitty, an Airedale belonging to John Jacob Astor; Frou Frou, breed unknown, but the owner was Helen Bishop; Rigel, a black Newfoundland who belonged to the Titanic's 1st Officer; a Pomeranian whose name I couldn't find but the owner was Margaret Hayes; and Sun Yat Sen, a Pekinese owned by Henry Sleeper Harper.

There were kennels aboard, but about five dogs actually stayed in the cabins with their owners.

Someone took pity on the dogs and let them out of their kennels, unable to bear the thought of them drowning while trapped in there.

Accounts also vary as to how many dogs survived, but these three at least did: the Pomeranian, Sun Yat Sen, and Rigel. (Possibly Gamon de Pycombe also. A passenger by the name of Mr. Norris remembered having been treading water next to the bulldog before being pulled into a lifeboat. I could not find reference to whether the bulldog was pulled in as well or not.)

A seven-year-old survivor named Eva Hart was so enchanted by Gamon de Pycombe that her dog of choice for the rest of her life was French bulldogs.

A Special Note About Rigel

The story of Rigel brings tears to my eyes. No one pulled him into a lifeboat. He treaded water for three hours until Carpathia finally arrived.

In fact, the rescue ship was about to run over one of the lifeboats, whose occupants were too weak to shout and signal their presence, when Rigel saved them by barking. The Captain heard it and stopped in time.

Rigel survived. Since his master died, Jonas Brigg, one of Carpathia's sailors, adopted him.

Was the crew prepared for the use of the lifeboats on the titanic?

Not really. The morning of April 14, there was supposed to be a lifeboat practice drill, but not only was it not a favorite among the crew, the freezing cold temperatures made the crew members decide not to hold the drill, which ended in several of the fatalities due to lack of knowledge of what to do in an emergency situation
