Please check post a new, separate question with the bill's denomination. The 1928 series of US Notes included $1, $2, and $5 bills; the two latter denominations also had multiple possible series letters.

Despite its age, 1974 $20 bills are common among collectors and have no extra value unless they're uncirculated. Even then, as of 01/2011 a nice crisp uncirculated one wouldn't bring more than an extra couple of dollars at retail.

The US didn't print any 1926-dated bills. The closest date would be 1928, but all 1928 FRNs had green seals. The only red-seal $10 FRNs were in the 1914 series.

Huge numbers of Series 1976 $2 bills were printed, so any you might get in change have no real added value. Even a top-quality uncirculated one may sell for only $5 or so.

The same is true for later-date bills as well, so feel free to spend any that you might get in change or from a bank.

While it's not Answers.com policy to say "use the Internet", that's the best approach in this case because there are hundreds of thousands of such images. Enter the terms US 100 dollar bill pictures into any major search engine and you should find pictures of bills dating back to the 19th century.

If your bill is dated 1935A and has a brown seal along with HAWAII printed in various places, it's a special bill printed for use during WWII. If that's the case, please see the question "What is the value of a 1935 US 1 dollar bill with HAWAII on it?"

$24. The star means that the mint orrigionally messed up on the bill and replaced it with a new bill.

Large-denomination bills were never formally taken out of circulation, but the last ones were printed in 1945 and the Federal Reserve stopped sending them to banks in 1969. By now any that were left have been grabbed by collectors. The largest bill still printed is $100.

In fact the Treasury has never withdrawn or demonetized any currency except for gold certificates, so even 1928 $1 bills are still legal tender. But the chances of finding anything like that in circulation are effectively zero.

In any case, it wouldn't make sense to try to spend one - aside from the questions it would raise, they're possibly worth much more to a collector. The most common ones (1934-A Federal Reserve Notes) sell for a couple of hundred above face value even when worn, and other series can be worth upwards of $15,000.

This happened in 1869. $1 bills were the first to carry a portrait of George Washington, but it was different from the one on current bills. Subsequent designs featured other individuals (including his wife Martha) until 1918, when his picture once again appeared on the denomination.

The current portrait is derived from a painting by Gilbert Stuart; it was first used on the 1923 series of $1 silver certificates and has been on all $1 bills issued since that date.

Check the date again. US dollar bills were not made in 1967.

1875 $50 bills were issued in two types, Legal Tender / United States Notes and National Bank Notes.

Both types are extremely rare, so you should first make sure your bill doesn't have the word "COPY" or "REPLICA" worked into the design somewhere. If not, it should be examined in person by a reputable dealer or appraiser who works with antique paper currency.

YES ... there's no "still" involved. Regardless of popular mythology, $2 bills have never been withdrawn or discontinued. They're legal tender and are printed regularly, just in far smaller quantities than other denominations. The denomination only makes up about 1% of all bills in circulation but that's hundreds of millions of bills.

No. Watermarks are used only on $5 bills and higher denominations.

The Treasury determined that the risk of counterfeiting low-value bills is so small that they don't have to be redesigned with more-sophisticated features like watermarks and color-shifting inks.

A two dollar bill with a green stamp ain't to rare I guess I done research and it aint worth much.
