A flippered marine mammal, Walrus is the only existing species in the family Odobenidae. Walruses are instantly distinguished by their prominent ivory tusks, tough thick blubber and whiskers, and are hunted by people for its skin, meat, tusks and fat.

What is the average offspring a walrus produces?
Adult Male Walruses reach sexual maturity as early as 7 years but typically dont get to mate until they are around 15 years old. Females on the other hand reach maturity between 4 to 6 years. Gestation usually lasts between 15 to 16 months at the end of which a single calf is born. Calves are born during Spring between April to June. The calves weigh between 45 to 75 kilograms (100 to 170 pounds) at birth. Mothers nurse the young ones for over a year and the youngsters stay with their mothers for upto 3 to 5 years.

walruses are not blind they are only unable to see when they are first born. if they were to be blind then how would they see a polar bear or some other animal coming? they don't have the best of hearing you know. after they are born their eyes start to open and then they see. it's kind of like a puppy, they can't see anybody for a while.
