Can an airsoft gun shoot paintballs?

Yes they can. Even though an airsoft pellet are smaller and are faster then paintballs, the bunkers are made to withstand a very high foot-pound pressure before you would be able to puncture a hole into it. Just remember to maintain the bunkers well and keep them clean.

Yes, in fact it is better to bring a paintball mask because of the large lens and additional face protection. Paintball masks are near impossible to break with air soft, because they are designed to take paintballs, which have much more force than an airsoft pellet.

However an airsoft mask will shatter if it is hit by paintballs.

Technically no. There are no paintballs that work in an airsoft gun. HOWEVER, they do make marker bbs that are basically paintballs but they are bbs. I don't know exactly how they work but I know you will see paint.

No, in most cases it all depends on the mask but generally to get ANSI Rated masks you have to spend $200+ Most ones people look at are the $20 Russian or Israeli ones they will shatter if shot and you will loose an eye.

No, a .68 paintball is several times larger than an airsoft pellet. There are "paintball" airsoft pellets, but they only work on low powered spring guns and have a very small splat mark.

Yes they can. 6mm paintballs are what you need for they will fit in the barrel. but some fields dont allow them.
