Actually, Talo, IT is InformationTechnology. AND an IT company is one that makes softwares, hardwares etc for computers, machines et al.

Innovative Technology, on the other hand is path breaking work. Stuff that is a new thought, a new idea, and that is implemented to help a lot of people. Innovation can be technological, social, business, governmental, anything.

Innovative technology would be something like PDF when they first started it. Or the mobile revolution in India, which Bharti enterprises started.

Innovation in social sectors can be any kind of social ventures that have helped people. There is this project that brought 24 hour electricity and water to lots of villages in Gujarat. That can also ccount for innovation.

I also saw a case study online of a company called TATA and TERI that created a green eco-system on a land scattered with soda ash and rendered useless.

I actually know of all of these innovations because of these casestudies that were found on line

Hope this helps!

On the other foot any technology that solves an age old problem in a modern, socially useful way, can be called an innovative technology
