One disadvantage is that the slaves go beaten as if they were animals and were made to work extremely hard

A disadvantage is the slave owners would enjoy having a slave because that slave would do almost everything you want the slave to do example - harvest the crops and maybe do some housework like washing up, cleaning, tidying.
