Do you have a S trap? this type of trap can cause a suction which will cause the water in the trap to drain out and possibly make the noise you described.
Newer Plumbing use P traps under sinks.
If you smell sewer gases in the house you may want to consider upgrading your trap. If not, don't worry about the noise.
Check the fuel filter.

If you're running at 70 RPM (revolutions per minute), that is your current RPM. RPM is a measure of how many times a wheel or object rotates in one minute. Therefore, when you say you are running at 70 RPM, you are already at that specific rate of rotation.
Black smoke is always too much gas. Its running too rich. Poor mpg! A good mechanic can scan it in a minute. Might be an O2 sensor failure causing 'open loop' all the time.
