In a word, yes.

Television has the ability to transmit more information faster, and in a way more easily interpreted and stored in the brain, than any other media currently available, such as radio or printed text.

The more information you're able to collect, the better.

Health and other concerns, such as the moral or educational values of the information being transmitted, are subject to variable change, and will depend largely on the organizations transmitting the information, the viewer's preference in those organizations (based off of the information they transmit), and the make and model of the television being watched.

Older televisions may give off more harmful radiation than their modern counterparts, making prolonged viewing potentially degrading to the eyes, however, moderate viewing on any television set (between 3 to 4 hours a day) is relatively harmless.
