LG Prime does not require a data plan unless you intend to use the internet with the phone. A data plan isn't a "requirement" of At&t to use the phone service (talk/text) for this model. The easiest way to find out if a data plan is required for a current selling model-- visit the At&t website and choose a phone, as if you were ordering it... It automatically adds a required data plan to the total if it is required. You don't put in any personal info with this method unless you actually want to complete the transaction
