There's plenty of free services to use and host your blog. There are two great ones that are user friendly and help you with your first time Blogging.

1. Blogger - This is partnered with Google and is easy and accessible to make a post at any given time.

2. Wordpress - Allows for high customization with your blog and they have a wide range of widgets and options you can do for your blog.

3. Tumblr - This is "micro-blogging". It's easy to make a post from anywhere at any giving time. Just upload a picture and it's there on your blog in a couple of seconds.
