If you have iGoogle and you would like to get the original Google back, you:

1) Go to on iGoogle.

2) You go to the top right corner.

3) You press Classic Home. (it's near the Sign In button)

and voila, you have the oiginal Google back.

(if you would like to go on iGoogle you type in iGoogle.com and you're there. Then if you want to go back to original Google you repeat the steps.)

What are the differnet types of Googles?

Google, or more accurately, its parent company Alphabet Inc., has a vast and diverse ecosystem of products, services, and subsidiaries. It's not just "one Google" but rather a massive conglomerate with offerings across almost every digital (and some physical) domain. Here's a breakdown of the different types of Googles (or Alphabet companies), categorized for clarity: Core Google Services (under Alphabet's "Google" segment): These are the products most people associate directly with Google. Search and Information: Google Search: The primary search engine. Google Images, Google News, Google Scholar, Google Books: Specialized search engines. Google Alerts: Notifies you of new content based on keywords. Google Discover/Feed: Personalized content feed. Advertising: This is Google's primary revenue driver. Google Ads (formerly AdWords): For advertisers to display ads. Google AdSense: For website owners to host ads and earn revenue. AdMob: Google Marketing Platform: Productivity & Communication (Google Workspace): Gmail: Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Sites: Google Drive: Cloud storage. Google Calendar: Scheduling. Google Meet: Google Chat: Instant messaging. Google Keep: Note-taking. Operating Systems & Devices: Android: The most widely used mobile operating system. Chrome OS: Google Pixel (smartphones, earbuds, smartwatches): Google's own hardware line. Google Nest (smart home devices): Smart speakers, displays, thermostats, security. Chromecast: Maps & Navigation: Google Maps: Google Earth: Waze (acquired): Video & Entertainment: YouTube (acquired): Google Play Store: Digital distribution service for Android apps, games, movies, music, books. Google TV: YouTube Music: Music streaming service. Browsers & Web Tools: Google Chrome: Google Search Console: For webmasters to monitor site performance. Google Analytics: Google Fonts: AI & Machine Learning: Gemini (formerly Bard): Google Assistant: Many AI capabilities are integrated into existing products (e.g., search, photos). Photos & Visuals: Google Photos: Google Arts & Culture: Online platform for exploring art and cultural artifacts. Payments: Google Pay: Alphabet "Other Bets": These are the more speculative, long-term ventures that Google separated into their own companies under the Alphabet umbrella. The idea is to allow these ambitious projects to develop without being directly tied to Google's core business performance. Waymo: Self-driving car technology. Calico: Biotechnology research focused on aging and lifespan. Verily: Life sciences research, focusing on data and technology to improve health outcomes. GV (formerly Google Ventures): Venture capital arm investing in early-stage tech companies. CapitalG: X (formerly Google X): "Moonshot factory" working on breakthrough technologies (e.g., drone delivery with Wing). Isomorphic Labs: DeepMind (now merged more closely with Google AI for Gemini development): AI research company. Fiber: High-speed internet service. Wing: Drone delivery service. Google Cloud Platform (GCP): This is Google's suite of cloud computing services for businesses and developers. Compute Engine: BigQuery: Cloud Storage: Object storage. Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning services: Networking, Databases, Developer Tools, Security, and more. Acquired Companies: Google (and Alphabet) have a history of acquiring companies that become integrated into their existing offerings or operate as semi-independent entities. Examples include: YouTube Waze Fitbit (wearable fitness devices, now part of Google's devices division) Mandiant (cybersecurity, integrated into Google Cloud) Looker (business intelligence software, integrated into Google Cloud) In essence, "Google" is now a brand name for a vast collection of products and services, while "Alphabet" is the corporate structure that houses both the core Google business and its many innovative "Other Bets.
