What is the justification for this?
It is silly to replace the entire heater when the fix is so easy.
1. you will need a visegrip or three specific open ended wrenches. under the gas control box remove the nut for the pilot tube, the main gas tube and the pilot senser tube. If it has a peizo electric ignition button, just pull the wire out.
2.Now remove the inner panel, four screws in the corner, some require a torx head screwdriver. Pull out the entire burner unit. Using two visegrips or open ended wrenches remove nut holding pilot gas tube to the gas jet. You will find the gas tube full of water. Blow it out.
3. The gas jet has an insert with a tiny hole. Pull that insert out and clean the hole.
4. use rags or paper towels and dry off the burner.
5. Reassemble in reverse order and follow the lighting instructions. it will work fine.
To turn on a hot water heater, locate the pilot light or ignition switch on the unit. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to safely ignite the pilot light or turn on the heater using the ignition switch. Allow the water heater to heat up before using hot water.

The hot water heater pilot light may not stay lit due to issues with the thermocouple, gas supply, or ventilation. It is important to troubleshoot and address these issues promptly to ensure the proper functioning of the water heater.
The pilot light on a hot water heater serves as a small flame that ignites the gas to heat water. It is essential for the proper functioning of gas-powered water heaters, ensuring that the burner activates when hot water is needed. If the pilot goes out, it can prevent the heater from operating, resulting in no hot water. Regular maintenance and checks are necessary to keep the pilot light functioning efficiently.
The pilot light on your hot water heater may keep going out due to a variety of reasons, such as a dirty or damaged pilot light assembly, a faulty thermocouple, insufficient gas supply, or a draft in the area where the water heater is located. It is important to have a professional inspect and repair the issue to ensure safe and efficient operation of your water heater.
