Drain under the sink or main to the city sewer? It depends on how long a plumber is there. $50 to $250.
Your kitchen sink drain and your shower drain are connected to a common drain line. There is some sort of blockage in the drain line past the point where the shower drain ties in. You need to call a plumber to run a snake through the drain line from the kitchen to where it ties in to the main drain of your house.
A large power auger is the only solution for the main drain.
To unclog your main drain pipe, first, try using a plunger to create suction and dislodge the blockage. If that doesn't work, you can use a plumber's snake to reach deeper clogs; insert it into the drain and rotate until you feel resistance, then pull back. For stubborn clogs, consider using a mixture of baking soda and vinegar followed by hot water. If these methods fail, it may be best to call a professional plumber for assistance.
Have a plumber snake out your drains.ANS 2 - Install a flapper valve section on the sink drain pipe so water can go down but not up - cheap and very easy to do.
You apparently have a creative drain system in your house. Your kitchen sink and your bath tub drains are tied together on the same branch flowing to your main line. I am assuming the toilets are not bubbling or overflowing when the kitchen sink drains. If they are, your main sewer line is clogged. If not, you need to have someone (preferably a plumber) run a cable or snake, as some people call it, through the kitchen sink drain.
If your water pipes burst, turn off the main water supply, drain the faucets, and call a plumber for repairs.
The main drain is plugged. You may need to remove the toilet and snake directly down the drain.
To install a kitchen sink drain properly, first assemble the drain components according to the manufacturer's instructions. Then, attach the drain to the sink and secure it in place using plumber's putty or silicone sealant. Connect the drain pipe to the trap and the trap to the main drain line. Finally, test the drain for leaks by running water through it.
I had this problem last year. I didn't pay much attention to it and ended up with a big flood which went through the ceiling of my kitchen downstairs. Many service men and inspectors came and couldn't find the problem. Finally, a local old plumber came over and said that my exhaust pipe up on the roof was clogged. This is the pipe sticking out of the roof that is connected to the bathroom pipes, not an exhaust fan. He unclogged the pipe very easily for about $40.00. If it's very clogged, a plumber can "snake" it for about $100.00. I have never had the problem since. Hope this helps.
