100% in my experience of using them for 16 years. I have installed dozens in my rental units and have used them in a space as small as a cargo van with absolutely no negative experiences.
These heaters are 99.9 efficient, which is why they don't need a vent.
But they do use oxygen from the room so each one is equipped with an over-sized pilot light which is fed by a controlled orifice. If the oxygen level in the room drops significantly the heater automatically (and purely mechanically - no electricity is required for the operation of these units) shuts the pilot light off, which shuts the heater down.

a direct vent water heater is more fuel efficient (cost's less to operate). aside from that there isn't much difference, aside from not needing a double wall flue through the roof on a standard gas water heater.
YES
yes there are direct vent gas water heater available Absolutely NOT
B-vent pipe.
You can try the Vent-Free Infrared Gas Heater taht is made for patios.
The necessary steps for gas water heater vent pipe installation include measuring and cutting the pipe to the correct length, ensuring proper alignment and slope for efficient venting, securely connecting the pipe to the water heater and vent hood, and sealing any joints with high-temperature silicone. It is important to follow manufacturer instructions and local building codes for safe and effective installation.
I'm not sure what you're asking. If you're asking if you can put a gas heater where an electric heater is, the answer is yes, assuming gas and vent availability.
The difference between a mobile gas water heater and a standard gas water heater is that a MH unit will use an outside air intake for combustion. That is the most important difference.
No. Gas water heaters are not all designed to use direct venting.
Unbelievably efficient. I have been using them since 1995. I have purchased more than 20. They are 99.9 percent efficient, which is why they don't need a vent. A 15,000 BTU Unit (that has 3 plates) uses less than a dollar an hour worth of propane and probably something on the the order of 70 cents worth of natural gas per hour. You do have to select which gas source you intend to use before purchase. But you don't normally run the heater at full output. Once a room is heated you set the heater on low and then it uses just pennies per hour worth of fuel. I have owned and installed about 15 in the mobile homes and site built homes that I previously rented to tenants and I've purchased a number of portable units for camping. A vent or stack on a gas heater should be checked at least once a year as part of regular maintenance. It's essential to inspect for blockages, corrosion, or damage that could affect safety and efficiency. If you notice any unusual odors or performance issues, a check should be done immediately. Regular inspections help ensure safe operation and compliance with safety standards.
Check the code for your area. Most I have seen go through the ceiling.
