The world wide web came about in a manner of unexpected growth. The idea of connecting two CPU's the way we see them today happened almost overnight. The original net was server computers exchanging information through a dial "in" connection. Instead of dialing into a online service, the computers actually dialed up each other and exchanged information. These systems grew into a community of colleges and the government and a few professions requiring large amounts of data. When the internet first started the files exchanged weren't even as big as a streaming video and would take overnight and even onger to accomplish. Now around the time apple computers started 1970's the intranet net became accesable from PC's. Shortly there after it exploded into the internet (www).
