It's not believed so, but they did make a bad choice in a recent filter release.

The filter, dubbed "yellow face" by users, replaced real eye with cartoonish slanted and closed eyes, along with other changes to make the character look like a cliche version of Asians.

The company advised the filter was meant to be anime inspired. However, the style of the filter was not consistent with anime. In a statement by Snapchat, an official stated "This anime-inspired lens has already expired and won't be put back into circulation. Lenses are meant to be playful and never to offend."

This comes after recent criticisms of filters that seem to be created for white users, lightening the skin, and a controversial Bob Marley filter that was released on 4/20.
