Yes, it is perfectly okay to ask and answer your own questions here.
People do this when they want to share their knowledge on a particular topic or subject but cannot find many questions on it.
Another reason this is done is to "seed". This means creating questions about a popular topic in order to have enough to warrant the creation of a new category for that topic here on the website.

Please bear in mind however that it is against the Terms of Use that you accepted to use Answers/WikiAnswers for commercial reasons. You cannot ask questions about your business and you cannot advertise your business in answers. We are an educational Q&A community. Commercial content will be removed and repeated violations will result in your access to the community being permanently revoked.
You also cannot ask questions about yourself or things like "does Shaun have a crush on me". Anything which is about you and add no value to a serious Q&A website are removed.

A contributor. Asking questions as well as answering questions is what WikiAnswers is all about, even if you answer your own question. The goal is to contribute the Q&A to the site and share the knowledge. So it's perfectly acceptable to answer your own questions.

Saying "I don't know" is not an acceptable answer on WikiAnswers. If someone does not know the answer, they should not answer the question at all.
