This answer relates to the newest version of Firefox. In the upper left-hand corner of the browser (Firefox window), is an orange button saying 'Firefox'. On the drop-down menu which appears, you can select new tab (it is located directly below the orange Firefox button once it is clicked on). At the top of the browser window, there is also some text saying the title of the webpage you are on. To the right of this is a '+' button. Clicking on this will open a new tab.

my answer is NO Firefox made me mad. I still miss the old mozilla. you can type and Google at address bar by pressing down after you type, then press Enter. Firefox doesnt has this feature. Thus we search bar which wasted space To close tab in firefox, you have to point you mouse on small [x] button on each tab. In mozilla there is only one [x] button for all tab, it close current tab. That's all i miss about it ................................................................................................................................... Firefox is prey to websites that open pop ups and new windows, even if you check the boxes not to allow these. Furthermore, these new windows are often "sticky", that is, they will not allow you to close them or use your back button without clicking a button on the website. This makes Firefox less secure than SeaMonkey.
This problem happens for a variety of reasons but the main reason or cause that this happens to me is because of a new add-on. Try to uninstall any recent add ons and see if that helps. Otherwise I have had to remove all instances of firefox from my computer and then restart and download a new "clean" version of Firefox. Try starting FireFox in Safe Mode (found in the start menu)
