Dialing *67 (or equivalently 1167) in the US and Canada suppresses the display of your Caller ID information on the other person's phone or Caller ID box. However, there are a variety of ways the other person can find out your number. In particular, if you call 911, a toll-free 800/888/877/866/855/844 number, or certain other special numbers, or if you call someone on a PBX (business phone system), the called party will get your billing information, even if you suppress Caller ID display. If the other person has the call traced, your billing info and Caller ID info (usually the same, but not always) will be available.
There is not a way to trace a call. Only the police officer can trace a call.

No. It is asphalt all of the way.
Think of it this way: Call display is essentailly tracing a phone call. You see who is calling right away. Same principle applies to tracing a phone call. It all happens as soon as you finish dialing the number.
