What causes YouTube videos to load so slowly?

There is no true way to make YouTube faster. It depends upon the internet connection speed that you pay for. This is also the same with me.- The youtube app that is on the iPod when you first get, it does not buffer videos for me very well, however if i go on youtube on safari the videos buffer a lot faster and i am able to watch any video on youtube on my ipod now! Give it a go and see if it is better. Good Luck! and i have no clue why this is though xD

All I know is that different computers (perhaps like old computers and new computers) load videos at different speeds. If your computer is slow with loading, wait until it loads close to the end, then you can play the video without it pausing every now and then.

YouTube can have several reasons for being "slow." If YouTube is suffering from a heavy server load, there is nothing that you can do, and many people are probably sharing your frustration. If the problem is on your end, check the following:

1. Internet connection. Dial-up is too slow to use YouTube enjoyably. Even some DSL lines are too slow.

2. Speed of your computer. You'll probably want a computer with at least a 1 Ghz processor and 256 MB of RAM to play YouTube videos smoothly and reliably.

3. The version of Flash. If you are not already using it, try Flash Player 10. It offers many performance improvements.

Your Wi-Fi might be having a slow time loading HD and high resolution videos, so turn down the Pixels by scrolling over the time bar and find the number with a lower-case letter P by it. Turn down the resolution a bit and see if it gets better.

You can use clipclip.net to load youku videos faster. clipclip.net divides youku clips into multiple clips and loads them separately into flash players.

Get a faster internet connection, or turn the quality down on the popup menu on the bottonright hand corner

If YouTube is slow, try to close other programs that are not being used. You can also make sure that you update your Adobe Flash Player or to also update your computer.
