The request is sent to the Community Assistants who decide whether the merge is a good one or not.
As a Supervisor, if you merge two answered questions on WikiAnswers, the answers will be placed one below the other on the merged question. Usually a minor edit needs to be done to remove any duplicated information.
No, they can't. They can, however, suggest a merge.(See the Related question for details.)
Usually the merge recommendation goes to Deb. Depending on the amount of requests, someone else may help her.
If the non-protected question doesn't have an answer, then you can merge it into a protected question. However, if the non-protected question does have an answer, then it cannot be merged into a protected question.
If the two questions are nearly identical, either recommend a merge, or ask a Supervisor to merge the questions for you. If the questions are not the same, but have the same answer, it is alright to copy and paste an answer as long as you wrote it. Don't take credit for an answer that you did not write.
No, SPAs cannot merge questions. They can, however, recommend merges, that will be carried out later. Also, they can move misplaced alternates between questions. To read about the super-useful tasks that the SPA's canperform on the site, however, see the Related Question.
No, it is impossible to delete questions on WikiAnswers. If you are a Supervisor, you can merge it into an alternate wording, or trash it, and everything below and more. (Note that trashing is only for harmful questions. Also, merging is only for the same question in a different form.)If you are not a Supervisor, you can recommend a merge, report a merge on a Supervisor's message board, report a question that needs to be trashed, edit and/or move alternates (appropriately) and so on.---Make sure every action you do is appropriate and accurate.Remember, Please follow WikiAnswers Guidelines.
Only duplicate questions asking the exact same thing (but in different words) should be merged. For instance, "What is the population of New York?" and "What is the population of New York in 2008?" are distinct questions that should not be merged together. The same goes for "What is the average height of a 12-year-old male?" and "What is the average height of a 13-year-old male?"Only supervisors can merge questions on WikiAnswers. All registered users can recommend a merge by clicking "Improve" next to the question or using the "Improve question" option in the blue Control panel and typing in the question into which you would like to merge it. Then WikiAnswers Support will merge them as appropriate shortly after that. Supervisors can merge without delay. If you are not a supervisor, follow the instructions as described in the Related question below. If you are interested in becoming a Supervisor please e-mail Supervisor @ WikiAnswers.com (no spaces).See the Related Link for help on merging.
Sadly, there is no supervisor power to batch merge questions yet. There is something similar to this, which is the split and merge feature in the 'Edit Alternates' section of any question. You can click that button to split and merge all selected alternates and move them to another question, all at once; however, the question must already be in the alternates to do so.
No one. Sometimes you will receive answer update emails with the last edit by a mysterious User ID000000000. This is not a real person, it's what happens when no change to the answer was made, but another question was merged into that question, adding an alternate. To see who made the merge, click "question history" in the blue bar.
You cannot as a user create a redirect on the site as that is something only the IT department can do. If you require some kind of assistance with a link or URL it is advised you contact: support@answers.com If you mean you are trying to redirect one question with a similarly asked one simply contact a supervisor so they can merge them together.
Supervisors can merge questions on WikiAnswers. You can notify Supervisors through the Community Forum, which is checked regularly. It will help if you include the URLs for the questions you think should be merged and we'll take care of it.
