Blogs usually have a sole writer or a few that were given permissions. Most forums are open for everyone to write in.
A blog post can usually contain many types of content other than text: images, videos and such, while most forum threads don't support these types of content.
The major difference is BBS means Bulletin Board System,but a blog is a weblog or online diaries.

If you have a link people will get redirected to the source when clicking it. If it's embedded on your blog people can actually watch the video on your blog.
