The country code for Spain is +34.

You can dial the + character on most mobile phones; if you are unable to do this or are calling from a fixed phone you must replace it with the code used to make an international call from your country. This is 00 in most of Europe and many other countries, or 011 in North America.

You then need to dial the full 9-digit Spanish number. Although numbers in Spain are still grouped roughly by region, there are no longer any optional area codes - just standard 9-digit numbers that are dialled in full. Most numbers in Barcelona begin with +34 93.

(The plus sign means "insert your international access prefix here." From a GSM mobile phone, you can enter the number in full international format, starting with the plus sign. The most common prefix is 00, but North America (USA, Canada, etc.) uses 011, Japan uses 010, Australia uses 0011, Russia uses 8~10, and many other countries use different prefixes.)
