Oct. 3, 1922. Jenkins first public demonstration, using Navy station NOF in Anacostia. He transmitted pictures, rather than television in the modern sense. The photographs were sent by a telephone wire from his Washington office to NOF and they were then broadcast by wireless back to the Post Office in Washington. There are a number of "firsts" for television programs.

John Logie Baird, a Scotsman living in London produced the worlds first working television system which was demonstrated to the public in 1925. The content was no more than a head and shoulders shot of a man. This is the very first ever transmission to be seen by the public.

In 1929, the BBC began the worlds first scheduled television broadcasts and aired a number of experimental programs over the following few years.

In 1930, the BBC broadcast the very first television drama, the play "The Man with the Flower in His Mouth". This perhaps might be considered to be the first scripted entertainment program.
