Because while you are inside a store, There is no Photography and it's prohibited. On private property or inside a shopping mall, You also can't take pictures of any displays or products that they have inside their store. The reason being is that so you can not copy their stuff or try to become famous for doing so by making lots of money. The store can sue a photographer easily if they try to copy what they have already and if a person is stopped then they can be given a fine or even arrested for taking pictures. To do that, You gotta have a city permit which you will only get by answering some easy answers and questions. Some stores will not allow you to film or videotape prior to having displays there that no one else can copy or repeat.

The reason why photography is sometimes prohibited on the premises is because of the risk of either police/security. Inside of a shopping mall or a retail store you can't take pictures of the store to use for selling or copying. It is a rule that still applies and if you are caught copying the stuff they have at their store. They will tell you to leave. It does not have to be a law about what and what you can't film/videotape while you are inside of the store. Picture taking inside of a store is not allowed and can lead to an arrest or with being charged for tresspassing. Trespassing is a huge crime and if a sign says "Private Property, No Tresspassing." then that means that you have to ask the owner if you can have permission to film and if they say "No" then you have got to listen to them.

The same with subway stations and railroads. If a person is taking pictures of a train while it's moving or while they are inside of a railway station. The person and or security may ask them politely not to take pictures. If they do not comply with their instructions and still take pictures even when it's not allowed then it can lead to an arrest. Police also have the right to confiscate any devices or objects that are either cameras or cell phones and will not have them returned at all. If you try to resist arrest then you can be charged and you may be caught and put in jail. The reason many railway stations or subway stations don't allow taking pictures is because there might be a robbery or a theft. They might think that you are planning out a robbery and are a criminal or bad guy who is very dangerous and who wants to blow up the railway station. That's why they ask you not to take any pictures while you are inside. If you don't do it then you will be fine. But if you continue and keep on trying to do it then they could have you arrested and charged for taking pictures outside of the railway station.

Many supermarkets also have this type of rule where it says "No Flash Photography Allowed". In measuams and other places the same rule is applied. Remember you are not there to take pictures. You are either looking or trying to purchase or buy stuff that you think is right for you. Taking pictures is a rule and if you are seen doing it then they will call the cops or police and they will take your camera away from you and never give it back to you. The same with courts where you can not videotape their court meetings or conversations that they have while in progress. If it's a crime and you are there videotaping then they will find out and they will take your device away and you can get into big trouble for filming while you're inside the courtroom while it's in progress.

In a parking lot. The same rule will apply. You can't take out any of your devices like your camera or cell phone and videotape someone's car. It's against the rules and if they catch you doing it then they will be suspicious and might even arrest you. The car owner can also sue you big time for attempting to film their cars and they might even call the police on you for doing it,

In most toy stores and shopping markets. This rule is applied all over them and if you are seen filming or videotaping while in their store. Then they might ask you to leave and if you refuse to do so then you would be arrested and they can charge you with criminal tresspass. Tresspassing is a crime and can lead to you getting 5 years or more while in prison. You cannot take pictures and if you do so without permission then they will confiscate your cell phone or camera without even asking you! Remember you are not there to take pictures so make sure you understand that when you are shopping for some stuff that you would like to buy!
