Why do so many people try to get their homework questions answered here?

There are two reasons that come to mind: (1) Some students may be looking for easy answers to their homework assignment. (2) Some students may not fully grasp the lessons at school and are seeking solutions or ways to learn how to do their homework.

When I answer what looks like a "homework question" (particularly in math), I go with the #2 reason. I show the steps on how to solve the problem(s). This way, the student not only has the correct answer, but also learns how to solve similar problems.

Some because they hope the answer will be here. Some because they do not know the answer. Some because they do not know how to search correctly. Some because they are lazy. Some because they don't want to do their homework and just want someone else to do it for them.

I'm guessing it's because they're too stupid and/or lazy to figure it out for themselves. But I'm kind of a cynic. Maybe they just want to share the joy of discovery with the rest of us.
