YouTube has changed in many ways, including its community, user interface, and programs. For instance, there are more programs nowadays like the YouTube Creator Academy and there is also the YouTube Kids App now too. The mobile market is now a priority for many companies, YouTube included.

Since it's debut, YouTube has turned from a video sharing site that favored the random funny, entertaining, etc video to a real rival for advertising money vs television. To do this, in 2012, the ranking system for a YouTube channel and video was changed to favor channels with more content, and channels that have higher retention times (people watch their videos longer).

In return more advertising money has been flowing in bringing more talented content creators making it possible to live off of YouTube as a full-time job without having to be in the top .05% of YouTubers.

Also it's now a search engine that rivals Google for how to guides on anything and everything. The evolution of YouTube will continue on this path as more and more people find the appeal of niche markets seeing they are able to get the exact type of content and information in a professional setting with limitless possibilities to expand upon whatever that person might by interested in.
