Break the ice: The Hardest Part. It helps to know something about the person you are hoping to talk with. It can be as easy as: "Hi, how are you?" / "Fine Thanks"/ "Say, ..."

Find common ground: This goes along with the first part. Find something you both enjoy. DO they like sports, or Photography, or illicit drug use? Tend to stay away from politics and over controversial subjects because you turn your conversation into a fist fight.

Once you have started talking the conversion is self-supporting, and you can just sit back and enjoy it.

Remeber, don't monopolize the conversation listening is just as as important as speaking, often more.
