A glass pipe wont ever break from regular or even excessive use. You wont ever get it hot enough unless you hold a flame to it for a unrealistically long period of time. If you are trying to clean it by boiling it in water, (best it Epsom salt is added) it still wont break due to the heat, however it will become very brittle and excessive care is needed to remove it. Once you allow it to cool again it will be just as strong as it was before.

Why does the hot glass of a kerosene lamp cracks when wet with water?

The glass of a kerosene lamp while glowing is hot. When water falls on it, there is a sudden change in temperature, which causes the glass to break.

Can a glass water pipe get hot enough to melt plastic with a BIC lighter?

It is unlikely for a glass water pipe to get hot enough to melt plastic with just a BIC lighter. Glass has a high melting point and requires more intense heat to melt compared to plastic. However, caution should always be exercised when heating glass with a flame to avoid any potential damage or injury.

Can water that's too hot break glass in a dishwasher?

Glass does not typically "break" at any temperature. If you want to be technical, the melting point of glass is 2600-2900 °F, which is much (much) hotter than a dishwasher is capable of. When things are hot, they grow very slightly larger due to their molecular composition. When something is hot and is suddenly made much cooler, it will quickly shrink back to normal. When fragile things like glass are cooled down too fast, the shape change is enough to crack or break them, especially if the glass already has hairline cracks.

Does glass smash better when it is frozen or not?

glass either way doesnt smash but if you mean break then when it's frozen because when it's hot it's just a like rubber. Believe me i know. when glass is hot or on fire it will melt. Chihuly a glass maker makes glass and I've seen tons of his videos.

Why is hot water poured to a drinking glass more likely to break the glass?

When hot water is poured into a drinking glass, the temperature difference between the hot water and the glass can cause uneven expansion, leading to stress in the glass material. If the stress exceeds the glass's structural integrity, it can result in the glass breaking. Rapid heating can also cause thermal shock, further increasing the likelihood of the glass breaking.

Where do you get the vine to pull down the hot steam pipe in poptropica?

you will find a old vine on top of the green house then go back down the hot thing again and go to your items and hit use on the old vine then it will go on the hot steam pipe and it will break open and kill the plant

If a hot piece of thick glass is dipped in cold water it breaks give reason?

When the hot glass is suddenly exposed to cold water, the outer layer of the glass cools and contracts rapidly, while the inner layers remain hot and expanded. This creates stress within the glass, leading to unequal distribution of forces and ultimately causing it to break.

What causes a glass bowl to get hot when its on a hot plate?

The ordinary dish has a relatively high coefficient of thermal expansion, relatively low thermal conductivity, and is brittle with no yield point. The bottom will get hot while the top remains cool causing tension stress on the top surface which can break the glass due to it relatively low tension strength, especially if it is scratched

How do you break a glass without touching it?

There are many ways to break glass without touching it. Here are a few methods: To do it with sound you need a sound that is a resonant frequencies of the glass you want to break. A sound that is the right frequency with enough volume will put energy into the glass and break it. Glass is one of the easiest materials to break using sound although any object can be broken using sound. A high enough air presure difference on glass surface will cause it to break. This is why they say to open windows when there is a tornado. Electricity at a high enough power can also break glass but it must overcome the non-conductive nature of glass before it will break. Even once you overcome the non-conductive nature of glass the heat generated by the electricity is what truly breaks it. Rapid temperature change (hot or cold) is the most common ways that glass is broken without any

To cut the bottom of a glass bottle, you can use a glass cutter tool to score a line around the bottle, then apply hot and cold water to create a clean break.
