It can affect relationships in a number of ways. It certainly makes you smell sort of bad, and also a lot of people will not date a smoker (and if they do, they often try to get them to stop). It can cause people around you to become disappointed in you once you start, and some people may downright avoid you because they hate the smell and being around it that much. When you're out in public, expect to be treated like a second-class citizen; people will scrunch their noses at you, talk down to you, and overall develop a ''holier-than-thou'' attitude toward you. Unfortunately, many non-smokers are indeed like this.
