It affects them the same way it affects the person smoking. I am foster caring for a 10mo old baby who was the victim of 5 chain smokers in his house, a month later he still coughs like someone who has smoked for 30 years. Answer: I think smoking is more harmful to children than adults. When my parents were chain-smokers, I often got a sore throat, stuffed up nose, etc. My sister and I had more colds, etc. than my parents. On smog-alert days in Canada, residents, particularly children and elderly, are advised to stay indoors. So if governments are so concerned about protecting nonsmokers from secondhand smoke, why are parents allowed to smoke in their homes and cars with children present?
