Nope. The closest they come is where they pass through Wyoming and Colorado. Although the Rockies are not in Nebraska, there is a low protruding section of geologic uplift approximately 20 miles south of Harrison, Nebraska on both the Wyoming and Nebraska sides of the border between the two states. It lies approximately 70-80 miles directly south of the center of the Black Hills of South Dakota, and could very well have been formed by the same actions that created the Black Hills. Huge boulders of granite can be found among these sections of uplift, resting among low cliffs of granite. The area is very sparsely populated although privately owned by cattle ranchers so permission must be granted prior to any attempts to explore. Had this geolical uplift continued for many more millions of years it would have eventually become a true mountain range in western Nebraska. This uplift is not related to the Pine Ridge escarpment or Wildcat Hills escarpments as those two ridges were formed by an accumulation of sedimentary deposits over a period of millions of years as the Rockies were being formed and erosional forces carried sediments eastward to the Nebraska Panhandle as well as parts of southeastern Wyoming and southwestern South Dakota. Eventually wind and water eroded the softer landscape around the two ridges leading to their current state.
