A Timeline of the World's National Parks?
The idea for the preservation of natural land areas was first begun by President Abraham Lincoln. He signed a bill in 1864 that granted the land of Yosemite Forest to the state of California. The first National Park established was in 1869 when Yellowstone National Park became a place of preservation. Today, there are over 450 parks like this throughout the United States. Africa and Canada are two other places that have national parks.
