The Onondagas and Mohawks are part of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy, but they did not primarily live on Lake Ontario. The Onondagas are traditionally associated with the area around Onondaga Lake, near present-day Syracuse, New York, while the Mohawks are primarily located along the Mohawk River and near the St. Lawrence River. However, both groups had territories that extended into regions surrounding Lake Ontario.
