Yes. I am American yet i do believe that we stole Panama from Colombia. The french were in panama (which was then partmof colombia) and tried to build the canal. They were unsuccessful though, so they went to the US for help. Teddy Roosevelt offered $40 million to Colombia but they rejected it, so clearly they didnt want it to be done in their terriory. The US sent troopsmto Panama and convinced the naiive Panama natives that they had to revolt. With france, the US brainwashed Panama into believing it was true. There was a panama "uprising" of colonbia that only had the support of less than 50 people. The US surounded the Colombian coast with large naval fleets and forced Colombia to give it up. Colombia did not have a good army or navy so they werent able to do anything about it. Now in control, Teddy started building the canal. he never cared about helping make panama indepemdent, all the US wanted was money. So yeah, we stole it from colombia. And then, to be "benevolent" and to "compensate" for colombias's loss, we gave them about $25 million. Panama had never thiught of revolting until we stepped in eith selfish intentions. and Colombia never wanted to give it up, but they were too weak. so basically, yeah we stole the canal from Colombia
"A man who has never gone to school may steal from a freight car; but if he has a university education, he may steal the whole railroad." -Theodore Roosevelt
No. All land that Roosevelt protected from rape and pillaging by commercial interests was federal property. These commercial interests, and their supporters, who lived in Arizona were upset when TR made the federal land protecting the Grand Canyon a national park. Eventually the people of Arizona were so pleased at what TR did that they made "Grand Canyon State" their state nickname.
"We have nothing to fear but fear itself." - but Powell didn't steal it, because he didn't pretend he had made it up, he quoted it and gave FDR credit for it.
When your confessing. Like, for example, "I didn't steal your teddy bear!". You can also use it in place of any situation you would use "did not." 'Didn't' is short for 'did not.'
Yes there was slavery in Panama. The Spanish tried first with the native Americans which was not too successful. Then they bought Africans for slaves. The Africans that ran away from their masters were called Cimarrons. The Cimarrons helped Sir Francis Drake steal gold from the Spanish.

I feel that Mr. Roosevelt was a passive man, with a conscience. He knew that slaving people wasn't the way to get their trust or to letting them have a life on their own. They were idealist as well. Particular people were taking their ideas for their own and that was a problem that couldn't be settled. So to make it fair Roosevelt says you make it one way or no way, and you can not steal anyone else's idea.
Steel also sounds like "Steal"
