The water that flows into the Caspian by the various rivers has trace amounts of salt in it, The water then evaporates leaving the salt behind. Over thousands of years the salinity level has increased to what it is today.
Slightly salty.
Aral Sea and Caspian Sea.
The world's largest lake is the Caspian Sea which is completely enclosed by Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. There's no such thing as a "fresh salt water lake"
The Caspian Sea is the Worlds largest salt-water lake.
Firstly, the Caspian Sea is a remnant of the former Tethys Ocean. Secondly, the Caspian Sea is still an endorheic basin, meaning that there is no outlet, allowing the salt to accumulate.
The largest saltwater lake in the world is the Caspian Sea. It is bordered by five countries: Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Azerbaijan. Despite its name, the Caspian Sea is not a sea but a lake.
All the oceans of the world are connected, into one huge body of water. The Caspian Sea is isolated, it has no connection to the larger ocean, hence, it is technically a lake. And it is the largest.
The world's largest lake is the Caspian Sea at 371,000 sq km which is completely enclosed by Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan. The Caspian Sea is completely land locked and is 28 metres below sea level. The Romans thought it was a sea rather than a lake due to its huge size and the fact that the water was slightly salty to taste.
The Caspian Sea is itself an important resource.
The higher the salinity of the water the easier it is to float - the Dead Sea, the Caspian Sea, the Great Salt Lake.
Aral Sea
Azerbaijan is not a body of water. It's a country on the border of the Caspian Sea. Azerbaijan is in Europe and Aisa.
