Quito: There are two opposing marine currents that influence the climate of Quito. From December to May, the warm current of El Niño coming from the north occurs in the Pacific Ocean and for the rest of the year, the cold Humboldt current comes from the south. When one of these currents becomes stronger and persists longer than normal, there are variations in precipitation on the continent. If the El Niño current is stronger than the Humboldt current, the rains on the continent increase causing floods. If the Humboldt is stronger, the rains decrease causing drought.

Manaus:

Since Manaus is almost right in the middle of South America, there arent very many marine currents to begin with. In fact, there are no marine currents that make a dramatic effect on the city at all.

Why do warm ocean currents cool as they flow along a coastline away from the equator?

Warm ocean currents cool as they flow along a coastline away from the equator because sand and minerals are transported by ocean currents away from the equator.

How do warm and cool ocean currents form?

Warm ocean currents form when ocean water near the equator gets heated and flows towards the poles. Cool ocean currents form when cold polar water sinks and flows towards the equator. These currents are driven by differences in water temperature, salinity, and wind patterns.

What percent of the ocean currents are wind driven?

Is the influence of cool ocean currents on coastal temperatures more pronounced in summer or winter?

It has to be the Summer. In Winter, the ocean currents are WARM compared to coastal temperatures.

How do the mantle's convection currents move to form a mid-ocean ridge?

The mantle's convection currents move in the mantle in the form of magma which creates the mid-ocean ridge. Mid-ocean ridges are found in every ocean in the world and when the currents erupt as lava the eventually cool and create a crust.

Are the ocean currents in the pacific warm or cold?

Both: Tidal currents that flow from the tropics will be warm, and if they flow from the poles will be cool.

What is the relationship between convection currents in the ocean and convection currents in the atmosphere?

Which best explains the relationship between ocean currents and convection currents?(1 point) Responses Convection currents join with the Coriolis effect to create the winds that drive ocean currents. Convection currents join with the Coriolis effect to create the winds that drive ocean currents. Ocean currents rely on warm convection currents to strength the Coriolis effect. Ocean currents rely on warm convection currents to strength the Coriolis effect. Ocean currents create a Coriolis effect that increases convection currents. Ocean currents create a Coriolis effect that increases convection currents. Convection currents use the Coriolis effect to generate ocean currents.

Why are ocean currents important to coastal regions?

they can warm or cool the air temperature along the coastal regions.

What are the warm and cold ocean currents of the Atlantic Ocean?

Ocean currents describe itself, a warm ocean current is warm water that has a path anything that gets in way of the path will be taken by the current same for cold water also a new tranport for the water to travel to ocean to ocean
