Yes, you can. Completely safe.

maybe, because there might be dangerous animals and plants in there.
I would say its just as safe as being not pregnant. However, lakes a very nasty. Filled with parasites.
No they will nibble your toes it will tickle and you will drown from laughing underwater.
NO! Its not even safe to swin in a swimming pool with an open wounds. Lakes hold billions of bacteria, So i wouldn't advise it.

There is only one place where it is safe and legal to get down to the lake edge. It is the Cleetwood Cove Trail, which usually opens mid to late June. Visitors are welcome to swim in the lake from the shoreline at the end of this trail. The temperature of the surface of the lake only gets into the 50's in Summer so it's pretty cold.
Swim
No, it is not. Technically speaking it is safe to swim near the surface, however at about 60ft below oxygen runs out and it becomes toxic. So, long story short, no it's not safe. Correction: I beg to differ. So long as the swimmer (one who is not using scuba gear) remains on the surface, it is safe to swim. If one finds themselves down 60 feet in the lake without any breathing apparatus, I'm sure then that the issue of safety is no longer an arguable point. Of course, swimmers should never swim alone in waters that are not overseen by lifeguards and watch out for any broken glass by the shores.
We went 2 the lake 2 swim.
It would depend on how alkaline the lake was. The sea is slightly alkaline and you can swim in that. However, I wouldn't advise that you go and swim in a lake with a pH of 14! I think this question would do better if it was rephrased.
