In all honesty, even after all the health considerations, it may not be worthwhile to you financially to have a root canal. I spent almost 2,000 dollars on having a bio-calyx type root canal treatment and porcelain crown. The crown broke after three years and the tooth itself was never cured of infection. So now I still have to pay to get it extracted and will try using a flipper or partial for now (until genetic therapy comes along if it does). In all I have had 4 root canals costing near 5,000 dollars and have kept none of the teeth. In the meantime I believe I have put my health in jeopardy as a result. That is not to say that one cant have root canal teeth and be symptom free, but to me it is a health risk that might catch up to you eventually.
bio-calyx is a root canal filling material you should avoid. It is considered a banned substance and has been proven to expand upon setting therefore splitting a root! Root canals are a viable option in saving a tooth, and if you ever need a root canal, you should make sure you have it done by an ENDODONTIST (a root canal specialist) who will do it right the first time.
No. By definition, a 'dry socket' is a painful condition that occurs following a tooth extraction, not a root canal. That is not to say that you cannot have pain following a root canal. You can, particularly if the tooth was acutely infected at the time of the root canal, or if the root canal is incomplete. You should consult with the dentist who performed the procedure and follow his/her recommendations.
what is the difference between a surgical tooth and a erupted toothExtraction of erupted tooth refers to the dentist physically pulling out the tooth due to whatever trauma it has undergone. Extraction of the root is going into the tooth and drilling out the roots, like a root canal.
well.. it depends.. if the crack was in the crown.. then a prep is done then a fixed crown is placed.. but if the crack extended to the root.. then the tooth will be indecated for extraction.
yes but with medical treatment by a dentist
If you get an infection after a root canal, its usually called a "failed" root canal. The dentist may try it again by re-filing the tooth and then repeating the process, or simply go for the more simple (and less complicated) procedure of removing the tooth in its entirely.
Smoking has no effect on root canal therapy, or endodontic therapy.Previously a poster wrote that smoking had caused dry socket. Dry socket is a sequela to an extraction; smoking can adversely influence the healing status of the socket of an extracted tooth.
If the nerve is exposed, root canal therapy would probably save the tooth. You should see a veterinarian for a professional opinion.
You can just let it rot out. Or if it is restorable, get a post and a crown.
Some alternatives to cat tooth extraction include dental cleaning, root canal therapy, and crowns or fillings for damaged teeth. These options can help preserve the tooth and maintain your cat's oral health without the need for extraction.
