The Great wall of China's purpose was to keep Atila the Hun and his group of raiders from raiding China like they did to the Romans, but I believe it had a major part in stopping the spread of eastern religions such as Hinduism, Buddaism, and Taoism into areas such as rome. As a matter of fact if you notice, one side of the Great wall is taken over by Christianity, the other side is focused around Reincarnation. The Great wall changed the course of Religion in a major way, and possibily saved a major war from taking place.
