Perhaps the biggest threat to orangutans right now is palm oil. Palm oil is from the oil palm. It is very green oil which is why many people want to use it for bio fuel. Because of this, it has become one of the biggest industries in the world and the demand for it is increasing. Many people have started ignoring the laws and are cutting down the forests illegally. Seventy percent of all timber logged in Indonesia is logged illegally. Many orangutans are found wandering around palm oil plantations starving and looking for food. Some are captured by people and killed but some are rescued.
