In the 1933 film "King Kong," the giant ape climbs the Empire State Building. This iconic scene takes place during the film's climax, where Kong is pursued by airplanes after capturing Ann Darrow. The towering skyscraper serves as a dramatic backdrop for the film's exploration of beauty, fear, and the conflict between nature and civilization.

I am pretty certain that the MOST famous movie featuring the Empire State Building at the end would have to be Merain Cooper and Earnest Shoedsack's King Kong. The 1933 classic starred Robert Armstrong, Fay Wray and Bruce Cabot. The famous scene came at the end, when Kong climbed the sky-scraper, then the tallest and perhaps the newest in the world, carrying the terrified Wray, with whom the giant ape was in love. The film ended with Kong being shot from the building's tower by bi-planes, and falling to his doom (Wray survived, luckily).
Because he was too big to fit in the elevator.
