Then, when Emergence came, the land would emerge from the floodwater rich and perfect for farming. This is because the Nile leaves silt behind when it drains back into the river, which makes the land rich and fertile.

I'm guessing that the White Nile is called the big long river because it is the longest out of the other one, the Blue Nile. However, the Blue Nile provides roughly 2/3 of the Nile's water supply.
