It was made to make it easier for ships to cross Africa when coming to and from red sea and med, England and Israel think they own it even though it is property of Egypt. They then started a war over it after Egypt stopped traffic on the canal in 1956 and the Jews again started a war over it in 1967 which lasted until 1973, all because they were barred from using Iranian waters up til 1975!

The Jews are currently doing this on the Gazans.
