There are practical reasons to dig a tunnel, like to reach a deposit of coal, or diamonds, or some other vein of precious material; to move people, maybe on subway trains, more efficiently than is possible above ground; to transport water or sewage long distances

A giant drill machine that digs into the earth is typically called a tunnel boring machine (TBM). TBMs are commonly used for creating tunnels for transportation systems, pipelines, and other underground infrastructure projects.
One example of an animal that digs underground is the mole. Moles have strong front limbs with sharp claws that they use to tunnel through soil in search of food such as insects and earthworms. The tunnels that moles create can often be seen as raised ridges or mounds on the surface of the ground.
they are vertical tunnels, angle tunnels, and horizontal tunnels. THE END
