Longshore drift is a problem in Chichester harbour because the residents houses around the harbour are going to be destroyed by the sea if they don't do something to protect them. luckily though they have built sea walls and are doing the best the can to prevent it but the defences that they have put in place wont last for ever.

How long shore drift effects on the harbour?

Longshore drift can significantly impact a harbor by altering sediment distribution along the coastline. This process can lead to the accumulation of sand and sediment in entrance channels, potentially obstructing navigation and requiring ongoing dredging to maintain safe access for vessels. Additionally, changes in sediment patterns can affect the stability of nearby structures and influence local ecosystems. Proper management and mitigation strategies are essential to minimize these effects on harbor operations.
